Elementary School (JK - 5th)
Bible
Positive Action Bible curriculum features lessons that highlight heroes of the faith from the Old and New Testaments. Through these lessons, students learn foundational skills that help them formulate a deep understanding of God’s Word as they grow in their awareness of how to live as His children.
Literacy
Houghton Mifflin Journeys and its online companion, Think Central, encourage students to develop a lifelong love of reading. The curriculum stresses the importance of critical thinking skills and is organized into the following strands: speaking and listening, reading, writing, and grammar.
Mathematics
i-Ready Mathematics is an online program that provides students of all ages with differentiated instruction and supports them on their individual paths to success.
Science
Purposeful Design Science presents science from a Christian worldview with an emphasis on creation. Hands-on activities, including science experiments, are the basis for the introduction and reinforcement of scientific concepts.
Social Studies
Harcourt Social Studies encourages students to become informed citizens who lead productive lives in the community. Lessons include history, geography, government, cultures, and economics.
Handwriting
Handwriting Without Tears, developed by Occupational Therapist, Jan Olsen, is utilized in the elementary grades to develop fine motor skills and handwriting fluency through both manuscript and cursive handwriting instruction.
Lego Education
LEGO Education offers a hands-on, intellectually engaging approach to learning across all areas of curriculum that encourages students to be curious, work cooperatively, think critically, and solve problems.
- StoryStarter encourages student interest in reading and writing by paring literacy with technology. Students use a wide variety of LEGO Education materials to build stories in conjunction with the StoryVisualizer software to write, publish, and print the stories they create. The hands-on approach to writing allows students to plan stories, create appropriate scenes, develop characters, carry out plots, and add details. The language arts program teaches students to express their thoughts and ideas in concrete ways that appeal to 21st century learners.
- Simple Machines and WeDo 2.0 Robotics allow students to build machines and robotics using LEGO building materials. Both programs provide students with opportunities to use their creative energy and natural curiosity to solve problems related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
