What grades will Weddington Christian Academy offer in 2024?
Weddington Christian Academy is receiving inquiries for students in grades JK through 9th . Another high school grade will be added in each of the following three years, with our first graduation anticipated for spring, 2028.

Why is WCA expanding?
For the past twenty years, WCA has offered one class each in grade, JK through 8th. Recent years have brought rapid population growth and shifting social values to Union County.  Consequently, many families are interested in a school model that combines strong academics with a Biblical worldview. Adding more classrooms will allow WCA to accept additional students in each grade. Our intention is to offer two classes for each grade level.

Why is WCA adding a high school?
There is an immediate need in this community for a private high school option at a reasonable price point. As a ministry of Weddington Methodist Church, WCA can provide a faith-based, individually tailored, academically rigorous education which prepares students for their next steps.

Will WCA’s new high school be accredited?
Yes! WCA has been dually accredited by ACSI and Cognia for the past six years. Only four percent of Christian schools are accredited, and WCA is one of those. Our high school will be accredited from its first year.

Do WCA’s graduation requirements meet North Carolina high school standards?
Yes! The course of study at WCA fulfills all requirements for high school graduation in North Carolina, as well as all requirements for admission to University of North Carolina schools.

Will WCA offer high school sports?
Yes! For the first two years, we plan to offer junior varsity teams in cross country, girls’ volleyball, boys’ basketball, and golf. We will seek to add other sports as the school grows.

Does WCA require a statement of faith from students or parents?
No.  A statement of faith is not required in the application process.  WCA reserves the right to an interview with parents regarding family faith values.  WCA is unabashedly a Christian school in mission, core values, and all academic teachings.  WCA welcomes families of all faiths and will always teach the Christian Faith with the goal for each student to become a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Can WCA accommodate students with special needs?
There is an application process for all general education students, as well as for our self-contained Exceptional Child Program.  WCA will accept students based on the school’s ability to ensure each child’s success.
