Admissions and Forms

REGISTRATION INFORMATION FOR THE 2012-2013 SCHOOL YEAR ARE AS FOLLOWS:

SCHOOL TOURS:  School tours are being offered on Wednesday mornings at 9:30 a.m.  We welcome your visit to WCA and will be happy to provide information about our school.  We prefer to meet families individually to tailor the visit to individual needs and grade level desired.  Please call the school office at 704-846-1039 to schedule your appointment.   Check with the school office to inquire about remaining openings.

NORTH CAROLINA AGE REQUIREMENT FOR ENTRANCE TO KINDERGARTEN:  Students must turn 5 on or before August 31 of the current year to enter Kindergarten.

Junior Kindergarten – Must turn 4 years old on or before August 31, 2012
Kindergarten – Must turn 5 on or before August 31. 2012
Elementary first through sixth grades – must have successfully completed the previous grade level

ENTRANCE SCREENING FOR NEW STUDENTS:   All new students are required to obtain an entrance screening through ABC Tutoring in Matthews, NC.  When you register your child for WCA, contact information will be given to ABC.  Their office will contact you directly to set up an appointment.  Results will be sent to WCA, and a copy will be mailed to the parent.

IMMUNIZATION RECORDS: These must be kept on file at WCA for all students in accordance with NC immunization requirements.  Although your child's previous school may include immunization records when forwarding materials to WCA, the information may not arrive by the beginning of the school year.  Returning students must submit updates as needed.  (example - entrance into 6th grade)  Families who choose NOT to have their child immunized must present either a medical exemption signed by the child's physician or a written statement of religious exemption.  There are no exemptions made for reasons other than the above two categories, in accordance with NC state requirements.  In case of an outbreak, the unvaccinated student will not be permitted to attend school.

STUDENT RECORDS FROM PREVIOUS SCHOOLS:  Parents of new students will be asked to complete a one-page release form giving WCA permission to request records from your child's previous school.   Parents of preschool students will receive a checklist for your child's previous teacher(s) to complete and return directly to WCA.

WCA SCHOOL UNIFORMS:  All WCA students wear uniforms.  Logo shirts are required every day, except for occasional NUTS day or "no uniforms to school" day, when students may wear an outfit of their choice, staying within our dress code guidelines.  NUTS day will be an incentive program for elementary students this year.  The new Nuts Day Guidelines sheet on the Admissions and Forms page of this website explains how your child can earn the NUTS Day privilege.   Jr. K and Kindergarten students will be included in school-wide NUTS days on scheduled Fridays.  There are three polo shirt days, one Chapel day per week when students wear a white logo blouse or oxford shirt, and on P.E. day students wear a WCA t-shirt with shorts or sweats/athletic pants.  Refer to the dress code included at the back of your 2011-12 student handbook.  USED UNIFORM INVENTORY is managed by Sabrina Savoy, a WCA Parent volunteer, who has graciously agreed to provide this service.  An inventory is being kept of available items  to help parents with uniforms throughout the school year.  We appreciate any donations of used uniforms your children can no longer wear.
