About Us

                                WCA MISSION STATEMENT

To provide an educational experience of highest academic excellence and Christian spiritual formation, by challenging the mind, touching the heart, and nurturing the soul; thereby encouraging students to represent Christ with their thoughts, words, service and actions.

WEDDINGTON CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (est. 2001)  is a private Christian School located in Weddington, North Carolina just two miles south of Charlotte.  We are a ministry of Weddington United Methodist Church  (www.weddingtonchurch.org) and are located on the church campus.  WCA students currently represent eight Christian denominations.  We offer small classes ideal for optimum learning in Junior Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and Elementary First through Sixth grades.  Our graduates are well prepared and transition easily into private or public schools with a strong Christian and Academic foundation.

WCA uses the ABEKA Christian Curriculum (www.abeka.com) for the strong phonics program which provides a firm foundation to develop strong reading skills, and also use the ABEKA language curriculum.  For the 2011-12 school year, we will use ACSI Math and ACSI Science in Kindergarten through elementary grades, and ACSI literature for our upper elementary students.   Our handwriting curriculum is Handwriting Without Tears.  We are fortunate to be able to integrate our Christian Faith into the academics, thus preparing our students for life's challenges.

In addition to core academics subjects and the Bible, students attend weekly Chapel, Music, Art, Physical Education, Spanish, and Computer classes.

WCA is a member of the Association of Christian Teachers and Schools.  We are accredited by and are under the supervision of the North Carolina Department of Non-Public Education.
