Kindergarten

Bible

Positive Action Bible curriculum features lessons that highlight heroes of the faith from the Old and New Testaments. Through these lessons, students learn foundational truths that help them formulate a deep understanding of God’s Word as they grow in their awareness of how to live as His children.

Literacy

Houghton Mifflin Journeys and its online companion, Think Central, encourage students to develop a lifelong love of reading.  The curriculum stresses the importance of critical thinking skills and is organized into the following strands:  speaking and listening, reading, writing, and grammar.

Mathematics

Math in Focus: Singapore Math, published by Marshall Cavendish, is a focused curriculum that places equal emphasis on conceptual learning and fluency with math skills.  The use of concrete and pictorial representations allow students to understand the “how” and “why” of real-world problem solving.

Science

Christian Schools International (CSI) Science presents science from a Christian worldview with an emphasis on creation. Hands-on activities, including science experiments, are the basis for the introduction and reinforcement of scientific concepts.

Social Studies

Harcourt Social Studies encourages students to become informed citizens that lead productive lives in the community.  Lessons include history, geography, government, cultures, and economics.

Handwriting

Handwriting Without Tears, developed by Occupational Therapist, Jan Olsen, is utilized to develop fine motor skills and handwriting proficiency with the use of manipulatives and hands-on activities in addition to handwriting instruction.

LEGO Education

LEGO Education offers a hands-on, intellectually engaging approach to learning across all areas of curriculum that encourages students to be curious, work cooperatively, think critically, and solve problems.

The Early and Simple Machines Program will increase science, technology, engineering and math knowledge (STEM) in young students.  Using DUPLO materials, Kindergarteners will experiment with wheels, pulleys, gears, and levers as they work cooperatively to create simple machines.

StoryTales will enable students to develop language and literacy skills as they use DUPLO Bricks to build scenes from their own life experiences or from literature used in the classroom.

Creative Builder and Café+ will reinforce math skills such as sorting, matching, and counting.  Students will also strengthen visual discrimination abilities as they create two and three-dimensional shapes using DULPO Bricks.
